Hubbard Creek Reservoir is a man-made lake boasting 14,992 surface acres and 317,800 volume acres. The maximum depth on Hubbard lake is 60 feet. It is located 51 miles Northeast of Abilene and 5 miles West of Breckenridge in Stephens County. Construction on the lake began March 1, 1962 and the dam was completed in November of 1962. The lake is owned by the West Texas Municipal Water District.
Hubbard Creek Lake is a popular destination for water skiing, kayaking, jet-skiing, and boating. Camp and day camp sites are available to enjoy as well. Additionally, Hubbard Creek Lake is known for its excellent fishing opportunities. Largemouth bass anglers, especially tournament anglers flock to this lake. White crappie and white bass fishing are a big draw as well.
There are several Marinas and fishing piers in the lake area and bait shops can easily be found on US HWY 180. Boat access is provided by 4 public ramps and at least 3 private ramps. Camping and lodging opportunities are excellent with hotels on US HWY 180 as well as numerous Bed N Breakfast facilities located on the lake and in Breckenridge.
